Escaping Forever Groundhog Day
Tap into your Imagination to find your next horizon
Ever felt like your career took a turn you didn't see coming? Maybe it blindsided you, or perhaps you saw it coming from a mile away. Either way, you are finding yourself at a fork in the road, wondering what to do next.
If you've climbed the corporate ladder or made it to the top of your game, finding a new gig can be tough, especially if you're over 50 or have a few decades of experience under your belt.
Sure, there might be job openings galore, especially if you've been hustling on the networking front like there's no tomorrow.
But sometimes, the only roles available feel like they're straight out of a time machine, with you reporting to someone who could practically be your mini-me. Oh better not!
I found myself in this wild ride not too long ago, just before the chaos of COVID descended upon us all. I wasn't keen on taking a step down or diving into another corporate makeover elsewhere. It felt like hitting rewind and living through Groundhog Day all over again, without the promise of a happy ending.
But amidst the uncertainty, I realized I craved something different. Trouble was, I couldn’t quite put my finger on what “different” looked like. So, before I could start scouting out opportunities, I had to rethink what success meant to me at this stage of the game. During my coach training, I realized that behind every goal lies a feeling that we crave. In the past, I chased success through climbing the corporate ladder.
Now, I was after that sense of accomplishment in a whole new light. Once I shifted my focus to how I wanted to feel, I could come up with plenty of other ideas than the swan song of my prior career. And that's how I landed here, coaching folks like you and me to craft happier, more fulfilling lives for themselves. It's been quite the adventure, let me tell you!
So, what about you? What feelings are you chasing? What do you need from your next chapter? For me, flexibility was key—I wanted to be able to work from anywhere and spend more time with family overseas.
Then there are your values. What really matters to you? For me, it's about constant growth and mastery, which is why I dove headfirst into starting my own business and honing my coaching skills.
It's all about seizing the opportunity to carve out your next adventure, one that taps into your unique strengths. So, dig deep, define those feelings you're after, and set some parameters. Your next big thing could be just around the corner. Let's make it happen!
