In every coaching engagement, I offer the Energy Leadership™ Index (ELI) assessment from the Institute of Professional Excellence in coaching (iPEC).
It’s a powerful instrument that opens up avenues for meaningful conversations and insights as we explore different perspectives through which you view day-to-day situations and life as a whole.
As individuals, we navigate the world through the lens of our experiences, values, and perceptions. Our actions are essentially a reflection of our thoughts and feelings, often influenced by past experiences – good or bad. The Energy Leadership™ Index assessment sheds light on our patterns, illuminating the subconscious drivers behind our decisions and behaviors.
Unlike traditional personality tests like the MBTI, the ELI delves deep into our attitudes and responses to present circumstances. It's not about categorizing us into fixed boxes; instead, it provides us with a snapshot of how we engage with life today. The beauty is that we can transform our energy levels over time. We can learn to shape our interactions and drive the outcomes we really want.
The ELI defines seven distinct levels of energy which represent how we typical approach situations based on our thoughts and feelings. Throughout any given day, we oscillate between these levels, similar to the fluctuations of a stock market.
We can measure the average resonating level (ARL) of energy to help us understand where we are right now in terms of energy levels. No level is good or bad – it just is. With higher consciousness we can choose which energy level serves us best in any given situation to optimize the impact on our and other people’s lives.
As business leaders, for instance, our energy sets the tone for the entire team. Whether we exude positivity and inspiration or succumb to negativity and apathy directly impacts creativity, productivity, and team morale.
The experience of the ELI was eye-opening to me. It empowered me with a framework that I can use to drive optimal outcomes in all kinds of situations, overcoming feelings of exhaustion and disappointment. Armed with this newfound awareness, I can consciously choose alternative approaches, steering towards more favorable outcomes.
The ELI isn't just about self-discovery; it's a catalyst for personal growth and transformation. Looking back, I wish I had encountered it earlier in my journey. It allows us to dig inside and let go of old thinking that does not serve us well in today’s complex world. We can evaluate our approaches and choose to adopt new habits and routines that bring a new version of us to life.
